Black-backed Tody-Flycatcher

Black-backed Tody-Flycatcher, Poecilotriccus pulchellus, is a bird of southeastern Peru in the tyrant flycatcher family. It was first described by Sclater in 1874. Its range is limited to the south-east of the country, from northern Cuzco Department to northern Puno Department, where it lives in dense shrubby growth at humid forest edges, in both primary and secondary woodland, as well as in overgrown fields and gardens nearby. It is a resident species. The bird is monotypic and was once treated as the same species as the golden-winged tody-flycatcher.
