Black-banded Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus alligator, is a pigeon of the Arnhem Land escarpment in the Top End of the Northern Territory, Australia. It is confined to the western edge of that escarpment and occurs in patches of monsoonal rainforest. Its most striking feature is the broad black band across the body, separating the white head, neck and upper breast from the grey underparts. The back and upperwing are black, fading to grey on the rump, and the tail is black with a wide grey end band. It lays a single egg on an open stick platform in a forest tree.
