The Black-bellied Plover is a medium-sized shorebird with a distinctive black underbelly during breeding season. In non-breeding plumage, it has a grayish-brown back and white underparts. During migration, they can be found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands and agricultural fields. Black-bellied Plovers are highly migratory, breeding in the Arctic tundra and wintering along the coasts of North and South America. They are known for their agility in capturing prey, primarily insects and crustaceans, with their long, slender bills.
