Black-bellied Storm Petrel, Fregetta tropica, is a seabird of the Southern Ocean and the southern oceans beyond the Equator to the Antarctic Convergence. It breeds on circumpolar subantarctic islands including South Georgia, the Antarctic Peninsula, Bouvetoya, Tristan da Cunha, possibly Gough, Prince Edward, Crozet, Kerguelen, the Bounty Islands, the Antipodes and the Auckland Islands. Its key feature is the dark stripe down the middle of the belly, which may be incomplete or missing. It was described by Gould in 1844 and belongs to the family Oceanitidae.
