Black-bellied Wren

Pheugopedius fasciatoventris (Lafresnaye, 1845)

Black-bellied Wren, Pheugopedius fasciatoventris, is a wren of Middle and South America, breeding from Costa Rica through Panama to Colombia. It belongs to the family Troglodytidae and was described by Lafresnaye in 1845. The species has three subspecies, with the nominate form in north-western and central Colombia, another in the Canal Zone and western Colombia, and the northernmost race from western Costa Rica through western Panama. It lives in the interior and along the margins of primary and secondary forest, and is often linked with streams.
