Amazona agilis
The Black-billed Amazon, or Amazona agilis, is a striking parrot species native to the pine forests and limestone karst areas of the Bahamas. These medium-sized parrots are known for their predominantly green plumage, with a distinctive black bill and red markings on the wings. They are highly agile and adept at flying through dense forest canopies. The Black-billed Amazon is a social species, often forming flocks and engaging in communal roosting. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, the population of Black-billed Amazons has declined, leading to their classification as critically endangered by the IUCN.
