Black-billed Wood Hoopoe, Phoeniculus somaliensis, is a bird of eastern Africa in the wood hoopoe family. It lives in wooded and scrubby country, including forest edges, gallery forest and areas with large trees such as acacias in wadis. Its range includes Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. The bird is similar to the green wood hoopoe, but it has a black bill instead of a red one and lacks the green sheen on the head and mantle. The sexes look alike.
