Black-capped Antshrike

The Black-capped Antshrike (Thamnophilus punctatus) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of South America. This species is known for its distinctive black cap and white throat, with the male having a black back and the female having a rufous back. They are skilled insect foragers, often observed hopping and gleaning in the understory and lower levels of the forest. Their melodious songs can be heard echoing through the dense vegetation. The Black-capped Antshrike is a territorial species, often defending its territory from intruders. They are known for their monogamous breeding behavior, with both parents participating in nest building and chick rearing.
