Black-capped Antwren

Herpsilochmus atricapillus

The Black-capped Antwren is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive black cap and white underparts, with the male having a black back and the female having a brownish-olive back. These birds are often found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their high-pitched, rapid trilling calls that are often heard in the forest understory. The Black-capped Antwren is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
