Pachyramphus niger
The Black-capped Becard is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive black cap and white underparts. The upperparts are gray, and the wings and tail are black. This species is known for its unique vocalizations, often heard before it is seen. Black-capped Becards are insectivorous and forage for insects and small fruits in the forest canopy. They build cup-shaped nests in trees and shrubs. The species is not currently considered to be globally threatened, but habitat loss and deforestation are potential threats to its populations.
