Lorius lory
The Black-capped Lory, also known as Lorius lory, is a striking parrot species native to the rainforests of New Guinea and nearby islands. These medium-sized parrots are known for their vibrant plumage, which features a combination of red, blue, and yellow colors. They are highly social birds and often form large flocks in their natural habitat. Black-capped Lories are nectarivorous, feeding on pollen, nectar, and fruits. They are also known for their playful and inquisitive nature, often displaying acrobatic behaviors in the wild. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the conservation status of the Black-capped Lory is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
