Black-capped Parakeet, Pyrrhura rupicola, is a parrot of south-west Amazonia in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. It is found in humid forest from lowland Amazon areas to the east Andean slopes, reaching 1000 m. Its range also includes the south-western Amazon Basin and nearby slopes. In aviculture it is called the black capped conure, and the name rock conure is also used. It is known to breed in captivity, and it can hybridise with the green cheeked parakeet. It was described by Tschudi in 1844.
