Black-capped Petrel

Pterodroma hasitata

The Black-capped Petrel, also known as the Diablotin, is a seabird with a striking appearance. With a dark plumage and a distinctive black cap, this medium-sized petrel is known for its graceful flight over the open ocean. These birds are nocturnal, often foraging for food at night and returning to their cliffside nesting sites during the day. They are skilled flyers and can cover vast distances over the ocean. Unfortunately, the Black-capped Petrel faces threats from habitat destruction, predation, and light pollution near their nesting sites.
