Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill

Ceratogymna atrata

The Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill is a large bird found in the forests of West Africa. It is known for its striking black plumage and large casque on top of its bill. This hornbill species is an important seed disperser in its habitat, as it feeds on a variety of fruits and plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the forest. It is often observed in pairs or small groups, and its distinctive call can be heard echoing through the forest canopy. Unfortunately, habitat loss and hunting pose significant threats to the population of this magnificent bird.
