Black-cheeked Lovebird

Agapornis nigrigenis

The Black-cheeked Lovebird (Agapornis nigrigenis) is a small parrot species native to southwestern Zambia. These lovebirds are known for their striking black cheeks and vibrant green plumage. They are highly social birds and form strong pair bonds. In the wild, they primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and vegetation. Their nesting habits include utilizing tree cavities and termite mounds. Unfortunately, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade have led to population declines in some areas. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their remaining habitats and ensure their long-term survival.
