Black-chested Honeyeater

Eulacestoma nigropectus

The Black-chested Honeyeater is a small, insectivorous bird native to the forests and woodlands of northern Australia. It is characterized by its distinctive black chest patch and olive-green upperparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Black-chested Honeyeaters forage for insects and nectar in the canopy and understory of eucalypt forests, where they build cup-shaped nests for breeding. While not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations may be impacted by habitat loss and fragmentation.
