Prinia flavicans (Vieillot, 1821)
Black-chested Prinia, Prinia flavicans, is a bird of dry savanna in southern Africa, recorded from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It belongs to the Cisticolidae family. Among the prinias of the region, it is the only one with separate breeding and non-breeding plumages. In breeding dress, it shows a charcoal-coloured band across the breast, which gives the bird its name.
