Black-chinned Fruit Dove

Ducula melanochroa

The Black-chinned Fruit Dove (Ducula melanochroa) is a medium-sized dove species found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its striking black chin and throat, contrasting with the iridescent green and purple plumage on its body. This species primarily feeds on a diet of fruits and berries, using its strong bill to extract the pulp. The Black-chinned Fruit Dove is known for its distinctive cooing calls, often heard echoing through the forest canopy. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential risks to its populations.
