Black-collared Starling

Gracupica nigricollis

The Black-collared Starling, scientifically known as Gracupica nigricollis, is a medium-sized bird native to Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its glossy black plumage with a distinct white collar around the neck. These social birds are often found in open woodland, agricultural areas, and urban environments, where they forage for insects, fruits, and seeds. They are known for their melodious calls and acrobatic flight displays during courtship. The species is adaptable and has successfully adapted to human-modified landscapes. However, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose threats to their populations.
