Black-crested Bulbul, Rubigula flaviventris, is a bulbul of forest and dense scrub across the Oriental Region, from northern and north-eastern India to south-east Asia. It was described by Tickell in 1833. The bird is marked by a black head with a clear crest and a yellow iris. Its breeding range extends through Nepal, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, southern China and Indochina, with further records from the northern Malay Peninsula and nearby islands. It nests in bushes, usually laying two to four eggs, and takes fruit and insects.
