Black-crested Tit-Tyrant, Anairetes nigrocristatus, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that breeds in southern Ecuador and northern Peru. It was described by Taczanowski in 1884. In Peru it also reaches the upper Marañón River valley, and it is tied to Polylepis woodland, nearby montane scrub, and ravines close to treeline. It is a resident bird throughout its range. Among its genus, it is the largest and most strongly marked, with a striking black crest in the male and a shorter crest in the female.
