Black-crowned Antshrike, Thamnophilus atrinucha, is a passerine antbird of Middle America and northern South America, breeding from southern Belize through north-western Venezuela and north-western Peru. It occurs across much of Central America, though not in El Salvador, and also in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. A forest bird, it uses both primary and secondary evergreen and semi-deciduous woodland, usually in the interior but also at the edges. It is placed in Thamnophilidae and was described by Salvin and Godman in 1892.
