Black-crowned Antshrike

Thamnophilus ambiguus

The Black-crowned Antshrike (Thamnophilus ambiguus) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive black crown and white underparts, with males having a black throat and females having a rufous throat. This species is often observed foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the understory of dense forests, where it uses its sharp bill to capture prey. The Black-crowned Antshrike is known for its loud, repetitive song, which is often heard in the early morning. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
