Black-crowned Tchagra

Tchagra senegalus (Linnaeus, 1766)

Black-crowned Tchagra, Tchagra senegalus, is a bushshrike found across most of Africa and on the Arabian Peninsula, living in scrub, open woodland, semi-desert and cultivated areas. It is a passerine bird in the family Malaconotidae. The species is notable for its black crown and eye stripes, set off by a broad white supercilium. Its underparts are pale grey, the upperparts pale brown, the folded wings chestnut, and the tail black with a white tip. The bill is black. Young birds differ with a brown cap and pale yellow bill.
