Black-crowned Tchagra
Tchagra senegalus
The Black-crowned Tchagra, also known as the Senegal Tchagra, is a medium-sized bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its black crown, white eyebrow, and rufous underparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied calls, often heard in the woodlands and savannas where it resides. The Black-crowned Tchagra is an insectivore, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense undergrowth. It builds cup-shaped nests in shrubs or trees, where it lays its eggs. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
