The Black-eared Oriole (Oriolus melanotis) is a striking bird with a bright yellow body, black wings, and a distinctive black patch around the eyes. This species is native to eastern Asia, including parts of China, Taiwan, and Japan. It inhabits a variety of forested habitats, including broadleaf and mixed forests, where it forages for insects and fruits. The Black-eared Oriole is known for its melodious, flute-like song, often heard during the breeding season. This medium-sized bird plays a role in seed dispersal and insect control within its ecosystem. While not currently assessed by the IUCN, it is generally considered to be of least concern due to its relatively stable population and widespread distribution.
