Black-eared Seedeater, Crithagra mennelli, is a finch of miombo woodland in Africa, with a breeding range from Tanzania to eastern Angola, north-eastern Botswana, Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique. It belongs to the family Fringillidae and is placed in the order Passeriformes. The species was described by Chubb, EC, in 1908. It was once included in Serinus, but later genetic work led to its transfer to Crithagra.
