Black-eared Warbler, Basileuterus melanotis, is a passerine of the New World warbler family that breeds in Middle America, in Costa Rica and western Panama. It was first described by Lawrence in 1868. It is a resident bird of montane evergreen forest, especially in mature secondary and primary growth. Its range runs from Costa Rica’s Cordillera de Tilarán south through the central and Talamanca ranges into western Panama as far as Veraguas Province. It is monotypic, and adults of both sexes share the same plumage.
