Black-faced Monarch

Cladorhynchus leucocephalus

The Black-faced Monarch, scientifically known as Cladorhynchus leucocephalus, is a small passerine bird native to the rainforests of northern Australia and New Guinea. This species is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a black face and throat, white underparts, and black wings and tail. It is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard echoing through the dense foliage of its habitat. The Black-faced Monarch is an insectivorous bird, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the mid to upper canopy of the rainforest. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its population in the future.
