Phoebastria nigripes
The Black-footed Albatross is a large seabird known for its striking appearance and impressive flying abilities. With a wingspan reaching up to 7 feet, this species is predominantly black with white markings on the head and underwings. They are highly adapted for life at sea, spending most of their lives soaring over the open ocean. Black-footed Albatrosses are known for their graceful gliding and are capable of traveling vast distances in search of food. They primarily feed on fish, squid, and crustaceans. Unfortunately, they face threats from habitat destruction, marine pollution, and accidental bycatch in fishing gear.
