Black Guillemot

The Black Guillemot, also known as the Tystie, is a small seabird found in the northern Atlantic and Arctic oceans. It has a distinctive black plumage with white wing patches and bright red feet. During the breeding season, its bill turns bright red. Black Guillemots are agile divers and feed on fish and crustaceans. They nest in rocky crevices along coastal cliffs and islands. These birds are highly territorial and form monogamous pairs. They are known for their high-pitched calls and aerial displays during courtship. The Black Guillemot is an indicator species for the health of marine ecosystems and is vulnerable to oil spills and pollution.
