Black-headed Munia

Lonchura atricapilla

The Black-headed Munia is a small finch native to Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its black head, brown body, and white belly. These social birds are often found in flocks, foraging for seeds and grains in grasslands, rice fields, and open areas. They build dome-shaped nests from grass and feathers, often in colonies. The Black-headed Munia is known for its melodious and repetitive chirping. While its population is currently stable, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose potential threats to this species.
