Ploceus nigrimentus
The Black-headed Weaver (Ploceus nigrimentus) is a small passerine bird native to the wetlands and grasslands of central Africa. This species is known for its striking black head and bright yellow body, with a distinctive black mask across its face. Black-headed Weavers are highly social birds, often found in large colonies where they construct intricate woven nests from grass and reeds. They are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the grassy habitats they frequent. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and fragmentation, the Black-headed Weaver remains relatively common in its range and is not currently considered at risk.
