Black-hooded Antwren

Thamnophilus bernardi

The Black-hooded Antwren (Thamnophilus bernardi) is a small passerine bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. This species is known for its distinctive black hood and white underparts, with the male having a black back and the female having a rufous back. These antwrens are typically found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. They are often observed in mixed-species flocks, and their high-pitched calls can be heard throughout the forest. The Black-hooded Antwren is not currently considered to be at risk, and its population is believed to be stable.
