Black-hooded Coucal, Centropus steerii, is a cuckoo of the family Cuculidae that breeds in Mindoro in the Philippines. It was described by Bourns & Worcester in 1894. Endemic to that island, it is the only critically endangered coucal in the world and is threatened by habitat loss and trapping. Its natural home is tropical moist lowland forest, especially tangled thickets and dense bamboo, up to 750 metres. Females are around 20% larger than males, and the species is monotypic.
