Nannopsittaca dachilleae
The Black-hooded Parakeet (Nannopsittaca dachilleae) is a small, colorful parrot found in the Andean cloud forests of Colombia. These parakeets are characterized by their predominantly green plumage, with a striking black hood extending from the forehead to the nape. They have red patches on their wings and a vibrant blue tail. These social birds form flocks and are often seen foraging for fruits, seeds, and flowers in the forest canopy. Their playful and acrobatic flight patterns make them a delight to observe in their natural habitat. The Black-hooded Parakeet is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade.
