Black Jacobin

Florisuga fusca

The Black Jacobin is a medium-sized hummingbird species found in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. It has a striking black plumage with a shimmering green throat and a slightly forked tail. These birds are known for their agility and speed in flight, often darting between flowers to feed on nectar. They are also important pollinators in their habitat. The Black Jacobin is typically found in the forest understory and edges, where it can access a variety of flowering plants for food. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Black Jacobin is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
