Black-lored Waxbill

Estrilda nigriloris Chapin, 1928

Black-lored Waxbill, Estrilda nigriloris, is a waxbill of the southern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with its breeding range in south-central DR Congo around the Lualaba River and Lake Upemba. It was described by Chapin in 1928. The bird is associated with grassy plains that have tall grasses and bushes, and it is usually seen in small flocks. Most of the population is thought to be within Upemba National Park, although the degree of habitat protection there is not clear.
