Black-lored Yellowthroat Geothlypis auricularis is a passerine in the New World warbler family, breeding in western Ecuador and western Peru. It was first described by Salvin in 1883. Its range is split into two parts: one runs along the Pacific side from north-western Ecuador south into Peru, and the other lies in the middle and upper Marañón valley from southern Ecuador into Peru. It is a bird of dry to fairly dry country, especially scrub, drier woodland and, at times, moister evergreen forest. Two subspecies are recognised, with G. a. peruviana slightly larger than the nominate.
