Black-necked Red Cotinga, Phoenicircus nigricollis, is a passerine of western and south-central Amazonia in South America, where it lives in humid terra firme forest. It was described by Swainson in 1832 and belongs to the cotinga family. Its range runs through Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. The species is a year-round resident. It is notable for the male’s glossy blackish head and neck with red to rosy red on the crown, rump, tail and underparts, while females are olive above with red underparts.
