Aerodramus maximus
The Black-nest Swiftlet (Aerodramus maximus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its remarkable navigational abilities and aerial agility, spending most of its life in flight. These swiftlets build their nests using saliva, which are highly prized for their culinary and medicinal value. The Black-nest Swiftlet is a colonial breeder, nesting in caves and other dark, secluded areas. It has a distinctive high-pitched call and is often seen in large flocks. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and human disturbance, the species is currently considered to be of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List.
