Black Noddy

Anous minutus

The Black Noddy, or Anous minutus, is a seabird found in tropical and subtropical oceans. It is a medium-sized tern with a black plumage, a distinctive white cap, and a sharp, pointed bill. Black Noddies are known for their graceful flight and agile diving skills, which they use to catch small fish and squid. They are often found in large colonies on remote islands, where they nest in trees or on rocky ledges. These birds are highly adapted for a life at sea and are rarely seen far from the coast. The Black Noddy is an important part of the marine ecosystem, playing a role in nutrient cycling and providing a food source for predators such as larger seabirds and marine mammals.
