Copsychus cebuensis (Steere, 1890)
Black Shama, Copsychus cebuensis, is a passerine in the Muscicapidae family and is confined to Cebu in the Philippines. It was described by Steere in 1890. Its range is limited to the Oriental Region on Cebu, where it occurs in tropical moist lowland forest, secondary forest, shrubland, plantations and clearings with dense undergrowth. It is also recorded from protected forests and other sites across the island. A key feature of its status is its strong association with Cebu’s remaining forest habitats, which have been heavily reduced.
