Hypocharmosyna placentis
The Black-sided Robin is a small passerine bird native to the rainforests of New Guinea. It is characterized by its black head, white throat, and distinctive black and white pattern on its wings and tail. The species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the dense undergrowth of its habitat. Black-sided Robins feed on insects and small invertebrates, foraging on the forest floor and in the lower vegetation. They are typically found in lowland and foothill rainforests, and are known to inhabit both primary and secondary growth forests. The species is not currently considered to be at risk, with stable populations across its range.
