Brachygalba lugubris
The Black-streaked Puffbird (Brachygalba lugubris) is a small, stocky bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It has a distinctive black streaking on its white underparts, a brown crown, and a broad black stripe through its eye. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of descending whistles. The Black-streaked Puffbird primarily feeds on insects and small vertebrates, which it hunts by perching quietly and making short sallies to catch its prey. It nests in tree cavities and is often observed in pairs or small groups.
