Arremonops conirostris (Bonaparte, 1850)

Black-striped Sparrow, Arremonops conirostris, is a passerine of the New World sparrows found from Honduras through Middle America and into South America, reaching northern Brazil. It was first described by Bonaparte in 1850. The species is split into several subspecies, and its range is disjunct. It occupies low, shrubby habitats such as secondary growth, woodland edges, fields, pastures, plantations and gardens, and one form is tied to river sandbars with dense Tessaria integrifolia. It occurs from sea level to 1,600 m, depending on location.
