Black-throated Antshrike, Frederickena viridis, is a bird of north-eastern Amazonia in South America, with its breeding range in the Guiana Shield and adjacent lowland forest. It lives in evergreen forest, especially on sandy ground and terra firme, and is often found in thick understorey growth, particularly where trees have fallen and opened gaps. It is a resident species. The bird is a large antbird with a crest, red eyes and a strong hooked bill. Males and females differ markedly, and subadult males show a mix of the two adult plumages.
