Black-throated Honeyeater, Caligavis subfrenata, is a honeyeater of montane New Guinea in Australasia. It belongs to the family Meliphagidae and is placed in the order Passeriformes. Its breeding range is in the mountains of New Guinea, where it occurs in moist montane forest. Salvadori described it in 1876. The species was first named Lichenostomus subfrenatus, and later transferred to Caligavis after a molecular study in 2011 showed that Lichenostomus did not form a single natural group.
