Black-throated Jay, Cyanolyca pumilo, is a bird of middle America, breeding from southern Mexico to north-western Honduras and occurring in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. It belongs to the crow and jay family. Adults show a black face and throat, a cobalt-blue crown, and a narrow white line running from the front of the crown to behind the ear coverts. The upperparts are mainly deep blue, with cerulean on the wings and tail, and the underparts are blue, deeper on the breast. Immatures lack the adult white line and have a dusky greyish face and throat.
