Black-throated Laughingthrush

Pterorhinus chinensis (Scopoli, 1786)

Leiothrichidae — Laughingthrushes & Allies

Black-throated Laughingthrush, Pterorhinus chinensis, is a passerine of the Leiothrichidae family that breeds in Southeast Asia. It lives across much of Indochina and southern China, including Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and southern Hainan. It is linked with forested country, especially moist lowland and montane woodland, and is most often found from submontane to montane levels. Some authorities separate the Hainan birds as Swinhoe’s Laughingthrush, but most lists keep them with this species. It was first described by Scopoli in 1786.
